Why AssisMonter Is Preventive Health, Not Medical Care
Our Commitment to Transparency: We believe in being completely honest about what we are and what we're not. AssisMonter is a technology platform that connects customers with verified Personal Assistants who provide preventive health services through social support and companionship. Personal Assistants are independent contractors, not employees of AssisMonter. We do not provide medical care, and we want to be clear about this distinction.
The Critical Distinction
There is an important difference between medical care and preventive health services. Understanding this distinction is essential to understanding what services are available through the AssisMonter platform.
| Medical Care | Preventive Health (AssisMonter) |
|---|---|
| Diagnosis and treatment of illness | Prevention through social support |
| Medication administration | Medication pickup assistance |
| Medical procedures and interventions | Transportation to preventive care appointments |
| Nursing and clinical care | Companionship and social connection |
| Regulated healthcare service | Social Determinants of Health intervention |
| Hands-on personal care | Light assistance and companionship |
What Services Are Available Through Our Platform: Addressing Social Determinants of Health

How Companion Care Services Help Prevent Hospitalizations
Companion care services available through our platform help prevent medical crises by keeping seniors socially connected, ensuring they attend preventive care appointments, and facilitating medication adherence through pharmacy pickup assistance. Personal Assistants do not treat illness. They help prevent it by addressing root causes of avoidable hospitalizations.
Evidence from Peer-Reviewed Research:
Research from peer-reviewed medical journals and health organizations demonstrates that social support interventions can help reduce hospital readmissions, emergency department visits, and missed medical appointments. Transportation assistance has been shown to improve access to preventive care appointments.

Preventive Care Access
One of the primary functions of companion care services available through our platform is increasing preventive care utilization. Transportation barriers are a significant reason seniors miss preventive care appointments. By connecting customers with Personal Assistants who provide companionship and transportation, we help customers access preventive care screenings.
Impact on Preventive Care:
Research indicates that transportation assistance and social support can help increase participation in preventive care services including cancer screenings, diabetic eye exams, and vaccinations.

Not Medical Transportation
Some people ask if we are a Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) provider. We are not. NEMT services transport mobility-impaired patients who cannot access medical care any other way, often requiring specialized medical vehicles and equipment.
Customers who use our platform are independent individuals who can walk, drive, or use standard transportation. They choose companion care services because social isolation prevents them from attending appointments. Personal Assistants address the behavioral health barrier (isolation), not the mobility barrier. This is preventive health, not medical transportation.
Not Home Health or Caregiving
We are also not a home health agency or caregiving service. Home health agencies provide hands-on personal care (bathing, dressing, toileting) and medical services (wound care, medication administration). Customers who use our platform are independent and can perform these activities themselves. Personal Assistants provide companionship and light assistance to prevent social isolation, which research has shown to be a significant health risk factor.
